What can I expect from my first appointment?
I meet my patients in the athletics centre reception area and show them through to my treatment room. We then sit down and have a conversation surrounding the patients occupation, lifestyle, symptoms and medical history, this enables me to consider predisposing and maintaining factors and what joints, muscles and nerves may be causing their symptoms.
All appointments are strictly confidential and patient personal information is encrypted and stored within a state-of-the art, professional medical application; ‘Cliniko’ in line with General Data Protection Regulations GDPR.
Following the initial conversation, I perform an examination; observing joint movements and conduct orthopaedic tests. These result in a diagnosis and treatment plan which are explained. Hands-on treatment is then carried out; with feedback between myself and the patient making sure they are comfortable. Patients are then taken through a home exercise/rehabilitation plan, which helps to speed-up the healing process.
What should I bring for my first appointment?
If you are currently taking any medication or have imaging or medical reports following; x-rays, CT or MRI scans please bring the medication list and/or images/reports to your appointment.
What should I wear for the examination?
Patients are requested to ideally dress down to their underwear or whatever clothing they are comfortable to wear for an examination. This allows the practitioner to accurately assess posture and joint movements.
How many sessions will I need?
Each patient and their presentation are unique. On average I see patients for between 2-4 treatments. I rebook patients for follow-up sessions with the understanding; if they feel better they can contact me to cancel their appointment. I aim to get my patients back to health in as few visits as possible.
What can I expect from a follow-up appointment?
The appointment begins with a short discussion surrounding how things have progressed since the previous appointment, followed by an examination, treatment and any further lifestyle/exercise implementations.
